CODY BARNES THRASHDAY SPOTLIGHT 3/23/16

WE ARE GOING TO THRASH AROUND WITH CODY BARNES TODAY

Q; Cody you have really took 2016 by storm. Can you tell us what you have been going different? Or has this year just been a maturing thing?

Cody; "A lot of it has to do with what I do in the off season. I have started lifting heavy and it has helped me. Also Trent Buck has really helped me push myself with lifting and cardio. Then with all the amazing people and sponsors behind me, it really helps me push to achieve my goals."

Q; When did you ride your first dirt bike?
Cody; "When I was 5, my dad bought me a little Honda 50."

Q; We notice you prefer the 2 stroke YZ. Do you prefer the 2 stroke over a 4 stroke all the time?
Cody; "They both have their good and bad, right now the 250 2 stroke is the bike for me in the woods. It starts easy and runs awesome! I really like the 250f and how smooth it is and how quick it is, for Moto X and Enduro X I would pick the 4 stroke because of the short burst of power you need. But for the woods it would be the 250 2 stroke."Cody; "A lot of it has to do with what I do in the off season. I have started lifting heavy and it has helped me. Q; How often do you ride Cody? 1-2 days a week? or more?
Cody; "I try to ride 2 times a week, I always ride at least 1 day during the week. Then race on the weekends."

Q; When you are not in dirt bike mode, what do you like to do to pass time?
Cody; "Right now its train to get better on the dirt bike!"

Q; When play riding, how hard are you riding? Do you sprint? or ride hard for extended periods of time?
Cody; "I usually try to do around 1 to 1.5 hrs of hard riding with breaks, then after that its time to have fun with your friends!"

Q; What are your bike racing goals for 2016 and your career?
Cody; "For 16' I just want to learn as much as I can racing with the Pro's. Right now I have been putting in good results! As for a career hopefully one day I can race for a living, its what I love to do and hope I can always do it!"

Q; Who has been you biggest inspiration in racing bikes?
Cody; "Adam Bonneur has been one of my favorite riders, I've looked up to him since I was a little kid. And now being able to race with him is unreal to me! Also Paul Whibley has been a very big inspiration to me, I've always been a big fan of his and still am. He was nice to everyone he met and was always very humble to everyone. Hopefully some day I can be as good as Paul and Adam have racing!"

Q; Is there anyone you would like to thank before we let you go?
Cody; "My amazing parents for all they do for me. Sam and Gary at G2 for all their support. Fly Racing, FMF, Maxxis, DP Brakes, Race Tech, Peterson Chiro, Fortune Cycle, Gieson Motorsports, IMS, Aser clothing, Trent Buck for pushing me to do better! And everyone else that cheers me on at the track!"

We wish Cody good luck the rest of the year!
